POSITION PURPOSE
Develop an understanding of tax planning and preparation services for customers. Partner with department staff to deliver accounting products and services. Build relationships with customers to the extent that the customer regards the incumbent as a resource providing tax and accounting knowledge and services that allow the customer to manage his/her business efficiently and effectively. Market Association services to customer and prospective clients, based upon customer need.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor degree in accounting or a related field.
Experience thru internship(s) or other work experience in tax planning and preparation.

Ability to earn certification by passing the Farm Credit Services Tax Exam within two years of employment.
Ability to earn certification as an Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) within two years of employment.
Exposure and experience in preparing farm taxes is preferred, but not required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Tax Preparation
Perform tax estimates and prepare income tax returns for customers in a timely manner and in accordance with Association policies, procedures and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) code requirements.
Plan and organize workload for maximum efficiency and productivity.
Bill customers for services performed in accordance with Association policies and procedures.
Monitor customer payments and follow-up/collect payments from delinquent customers.
Exercise a high level of ethical and professional judgment.
Be available to travel to other offices or territories to support and assist the entire team.
Accessibility to work evenings and weekends from January thru April in order to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
Education and Learning
Successfully complete certification from the Farm Credit Tax Exam and EA or CPA.
Actively learn all aspects of tax planning and preparation.
Progressively develop and maintain a technical competency and technological effectiveness in tax planning and preparation that meets customer's needs.
Be receptive to receive feedback thru peer reviews and coaching.
Seek out and participate in opportunities for self-development of technical knowledge, business management, tax law, or interpersonal skills.
Become knowledgeable in all aspects of the Association's products and services.
Provide answers and expertise to Association staff and customers related to tax and accounting.
Sales and Marketing
Participate in the development and presentation of ongoing educational programs for Association staff and customers regarding tax and accounting services.
Join Association staff on ride along, job shadowing, customer visits, agriculture or community events to develop knowledge in all Association products and services.
Develop relationships with Association staff in your assigned office or territory to facilitate referrals and new business.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
