Summary:
As the Manager - Engine Mechanical Development, you will lead and guide all aspects of the mechanical development of marine combustion and electrical engines and the improvement of engine systems and sub systems through the development phase. You'll support Outboard, Sterndrive and Inboard engine products. Additionally, you'll work with engine design counterparts to optimize and validate engine systems, while leading group workflow of 8-10 engineers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide tactical and strategic leadership of the Mechanical Development group within Engineering Test and Development (ETD) Deliver functional support to cross-functional product development teams following High Performance Product Development (HPPD) principles Supply technical oversight for all engine mechanical development efforts to ensure products meet functional requirements and achieve all Test Standard requirements with detailed test plans Develop and execute training plans to maintain and improve the technical capabilities of the group in:
Mechanical systems development Data acquisition and analysis Vessel mechanical performance Develop leadership capabilities Assist the ETD organization with developing and improving test and design standards. Provide administrative management of the Mechanical Development group. This includes staffing, individual and team capability development, and performance management Manage headcount of the group according to project plans including technical and project timing input Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
Deep understanding of all aspects of combustion engines and their development processes Understanding of electrical motor, inverter, and battery cooling systems Understanding of drive trains and associated systems and their development Proven leadership and management skills Continuous improvement mindset to document project learnings and apply to future engine programs Organizational skills necessary to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions Skill to independently make accurate decisions and analyze risk Talent to motivate staff and develop their team Experience - External:
