The Electrical & Electronics Engineering group at Mercury Marine is looking for an Electrical Engineer with experience in High Voltage (HV) electric motor design and control to help develop and advance electric propulsion systems for Mercury's award-winning lineup in a unique and challenging marine environment. This will include specifying or designing customized motors and enclosures that operate at high loads at sustained rated output, potentially in a submerged application. Roles and
Responsibilities:
Design and/or development of High Voltage (HV) electric motors for the marine market, from concept through production release Lead design trade-off studies between various HV electric motor solutions Serve as subject-matter expert (SME) for HV electric machine design and development Support Mercury's Software & Controls Engineering in developing HV motor control Support development of component specifications that ensure compliance to Vessel, System and Component requirements (including performance, EMC, high voltage safety, thermal, reliability, and durability) Participate in and facilitate concept reviews, design reviews, and design FMEAs Write test requests and create technical reports Development and execution of validation plans Support system-level boat testing and validation of electronics on the boat Participate in and facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions Participate in cross-functional product development teams through Mercury's High-Performance Product Development stage-gated process Required
Qualifications:
Minimum B.S. Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering 10
years of engineering experience working with one or more of the following:
BLDC motors, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), Three Phase AC Induction Motors, or Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) A strong understanding of power electronics theory, motor control, permanent magnet motors Working knowledge of software development and electrical systems simulations, such as Maxwell, Flux, MotorAnalysis, Motor-CAD or similar Strong oral and written communication skills Excellent problem definition and solving techniques Strong teamwork skills and ability to work among cross-functional teams Preferred
Qualifications:
M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering Familiarity with industry standards for electric motor design and manufacturing, especially automotive Familiarity with high output EV's Familiarity with 48-60V and 350V electrical systems Design of traction, propulsion, or asynchronous motors for a production product Knowledge of automotive energy storage subsystems (HV Battery) and controls Working knowledge of circuit design Proficiency in CAD modeling #LI-Onsite We recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
